Below is some JAM FAQ:

What is the Format?

Round Robin? Yes Round Robin format OR dividing in groups when the Jam gets bigger (12ish or larger)

What kind of music? An open variety which reflects the tastes of the folks participating.

Plugged in or acoustic? We will focus on it being acoustic.  

Are beginners welcome? Will anyone call out chords sometimes?  Beginners are very welcome!  The facilitator will call out chords as needed.

Who leads the group? We have a couple Facilitators who are basically there to be helpful

A (tactful, not too pushy!) facilitator can be helpful, someone willing to  keep things moving along ) curb the limelight hogs, diffuse people who insist on playing their out-of=tune banjo on others’ songs, unasked, etc. and if it gets crowded,  make sure everyone gets to solo that wants to, if possible.  John Zamora & Joe DiVincenzo stepped up to assume the facilitator duties.

I think they are also open to assistance.  Please contact John or Joe if you would like to help in this role.  The facilitator also helps to keep the volume down and curb the limelight hogs.

Charts, lyrics, tab?  Yes, charts be a good thing!  Folks enjoy finding stuff online & emailing it to each other.  We encourage you to bring in enough charts (lyrics/chords? to pass out to the group.

In lieu of charts, whoever calls out a song should stipulate key and capo position if used.

If you are a beginner, this is a great way to play at least 1 song confidently & build your repertoire each week!  Work up a song of your own choosing, key & at your own pace.  Then email copies or print out copies for the group.  Be sure to tell the group how fast you want to play it so it is played at a pace you are comfortable with.

Do I need to commit to coming every week?  No.  Come or Commit when you want to.
