Indicate whether you want main stage
seating or our new "Peanut Gallery" in our back lounge. The Peanut Gallery does
NOT have a view of the stage but you can sit your rump into comfy lounge chairs,
prop up your feet, close your eyes, and we'll supply you with peanuts! If you do
not state a preference, then we assume that you want main stage seating instead
of peanuts.

CHORINHO After hearing Chorinho you will want to move, groove, leave the band a great tip, and run out to get a pair of really cool Brazilian shoes so you can dance on the tables at their next show!
|
"Fun, positive,
uplifting, and enthralling" is how folks are describing Chorinho! Founded in
2008, this local up-and-coming group will take you 6000 miles away to the
hot nights of Brazil! Chorinho (meaning "Little Crier" in Portuguese) was
formed with the interest of promoting Brazilian traditional music called “Choro.”
Developed around the turn of the 20th century, this style became the voice
for a new and growing nation, in search of it’s identity. It is now
considered by many to be the primary example of what is quintessentially
Brazilian music. Fusing Classical and Jazz harmonies with African beats,
their sound displays energetic and playful melodies that twists and turns on
a silky rhythm. Chorinho is comprised of members of our close musical family at Matt’s Music. You will find Grant Chase on Bandolim (a Brazilian pear shaped mandolin,) Shaun Fairfield on 7 string guitar, Lara Kiani on flute, and Lulu Orozco-Delgado on Pandeiro (a Brazilian drum which a gringo would mistake for a tambourine.) New on the music scene, Chorinho is being heard around the best local spots including The Hamlet, Linnea’s, and CPAC. They are currently working on their debut CD and will be testing out tunes on you this weekend; both traditional Brazilian Jazz and original compositions. |
